What Is a Roll Former Machine and How Does It Work?

A roll former machine is a specialist piece of equipment used to shape metal into consistent, custom profiles. It works by gradually forming a flat strip of metal—usually steel or aluminium—through a series of consecutive roll stations. This progressive shaping technique is known as rollforming.

The Rollforming Process Explained

Rollforming starts with a coil or flat strip of metal being fed into the machine. From there, it passes through a sequence of hardened rollers. Each set of rollers bends the metal slightly more than the last, forming a precise shape along the entire length of the sheet.
